Despite Vally's Success, Lundy to Start vs. Philly

Sam Weinman at The Ranger Report says...

"...when I asked the coach if Stephen Valiquette’s recent run against the Flyers—i.e. consecutive shutouts—merited consideration for Sunday, Renney smirked and said he thought about it, but is leaning toward Henrik Lundqvist.

I don’t blame him. Even Valiquette acknowledged that unlike with a pitcher in baseball, a goalie’s success against a specific opponent is overrated."

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes confirms here...

"Lundqvist will start against Philly"

...tough decision for Renney, but I think he made the right one. Games are too important and Lundqvist has been solid during this recent streak. A streak which ironically started with a Valiquette win over the Flyers.
