Rangers Have Prospects to Make Kessel Deal Feasible

Kevin Paul Dupont at the Boston Globe continues following the goings-on of Bruins restricted free agent Phil Kessel by saying this about the possibility of Kessel going to the Rangers...

"Both the Predators and Rangers have quality prospects that make a Kessel deal feasible. If that’s the case, much like when the Bruins flipped Glen Wesley to Hartford 15 years ago, the club swapping for Kessel no doubt would insist the Bruins first sign him and then make the trade."

...i find it amazing that Dupont doesn't even mention the Rangers lack of cap space. Sure they might have the prospects to get a deal done, but if they don't have the cap room the point is moot.

Never let facts get in the way of a good rumor ! ;)

Kessel would be the #1 center that they need and would be better than Heatley, Richard, Marleau or any of the other centers rumored to be heading to the Rangers.

So, how do you fit him under the cap with that albatross of a contract (Redden & Drury) hitting them? I don't see it happening.

Its so frustrating with all of these big names rumored to be coming to new york. And Rj u are right. The only way to get any of them is moving a big time contract as in Redden, Rozsival, or Drury. I dont see Drury going any where. I would like to see Kessel as the number one center. Also i want dubinsky to be signed NOW!. If we can get kessel as our number one i thing we are in good shape. Kevin what should we expect as ranger fans?

Expect Dubinsky to sign for the qualifying offer and no trade to be made until trade deadline.
