Previews, Previews, Previews

Here's some more previews of the Rangers/Devils series...

From Wes Goldstein at CBSSportsline...

No. 4 New Jersey Devils vs. No. 5 New York Rangers

It is probably fair to wonder if the Devils will sell enough tickets to local to keep the Rangers from having some kind of home-ice advantage in Newark. Not that New York necessarily needs it after winning three of four road games against New Jersey and seven of eight overall, but at playoff time, you take any edge you can get...Both teams are well coached though and adapt well to changing circumstances when necessary so this should go the distance and because of the rivalry, make this one of the most bitter series of the first round. Prediction: Devils in seven.

From NHL.com...

Devils vs. Rangers

Don't expect a lot of goals to be scored in this Eastern Conference series. The teams combined for just 29 in the eight-game series in the regular season...This series should be filled with great goaltending, tight checking, plenty of fundamentals and unabated passion. The Devils and Rangers have enough postseason history now to provide an added level to their already fiery rivalry.

(5) New York Rangers-(4) New Jersey Devils

It’s easy to suggest this will be a battle of goaltenders, so, well, we’ll just say that. New York’s Henrik Lundqvist will have to be at his best to outduel New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur. Then again, the Devils’ attack doesn’t scare a lot of people and who can figure out which Rangers’ offense will show up?...It just figures, too, that Scott Gomez goes from the Devils to the Rangers and his first playoff series with the Blueshirts has to be against his ex-teammates.

NEW JERSEY DEVILS vs. NEW YORK RANGERS

If you’re looking for offense, you’ve come to the wrong series; this one is all about team ‘D’, stellar goaltending and opportune goals. The slightly more potent Rangers will prevail in a squeaker. Rangers in seven.

...man these previews are like a broken record...no scoring, great goaltending...no scoring, great goaltending...no scoring, great goaltending. With how accurate these experts usually are, I should put my life savings on the over in every game.
