"If last night's 5-3 Rangers win was any indication, neither Lundqvist nor Brodeur is the prototypical "hot goalie," at least not yet. This was more a battle of attrition than a display of proficiency: there was Lundqvist getting handcuffed on shots from the point and leaving a rebound out in front that Patrik Elias knocked home just 31 seconds into the second period that tied the score at 2-2. There was Brodeur flopping around the crease helplessly as Chris Drury deflected Fedor Tyutin's slap shot that put the Rangers back ahead, 3-2.
Neither goalie was particularly sharp. That isn't to say they were necessarily to blame for any one of the goals, just that both have earned reputations as game-changers, the kind of goalies who do things that make you wonder if they are wearing wizards hats underneath their wire-fronted masks. This wasn't that kind of night for either one."
...Brodeur has been off the entire series. I think the constant crashing of the net by the Rangers has gotten in his head. And it only got worse last night when the refs called him for diving. The one reason I didn't want to see the Devils in the first round was Brodeur. I'm actually shocked to see how poor he's played.
...Lundqvist on the other hand has had an up and down series. He was phenomenal in the first two games and has been average in the last two. Let's hope he regains his magic for Game 5 at "The Pebble."
