Jagr Steps Up

Mark Herrmann at Newsday writes...

"That clinches it. If there were any doubt, Jaromir Jagr showed both the Rangers and the Islanders why any team would want to have a guy like Jagr.

He hasn't been a world beater this season, but the Rangers captain was an Islanders beater last night, as he has been most of his career. Mostly, this big man (6-3, 240 pounds) was the Big Guy when his team needed him. He is the star both the Rangers and the Islanders need, with the difference being that the Rangers have one.

It was no coincidence that it was Jagr, a future Hall of Famer, whose two power-play goals in the first period helped clinch a playoff spot for the Rangers and clinched a place in the draft lottery for the Islanders."

...the guy has taken a beating this year for his lack of scoring, but if he goes on a scoring spree in the playoffs all will be forgotten.
