Drury Time

Last night the New York Rangers (41-27-11) defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins (46-27-7) by a score of 2-1 in OT. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

- Chris Drury's game winner in overtime was his first overtime winner with the Rangers (four career OT winners). It was also his seventh game winning goal this year (44 career game winners).

- Jaromir Jagr scored his first power play goal in 32 games.

- Brendan Shanahan sustained a lower-body injury in the second period and did not return. Tom Renney called Shanahan day-to-day and said the injury is a “muscle issue” that doesn’t appear to be serious.

- The Rangers have now scored a power play goal in three straight games (five goals total).

- With the win the Rangers moved ahead of the Ottawa Senators into fifth place.

- The Rangers outshot the Penguins 9-1 in the first period.

...man do I love Chris Drury. The puck just finds this guy in the big spot and he always knows what to do with it.

...while Lundqvist didn't see many pucks early, he made some great saves down the stretch to keep the game tied setting the stage for Drury.

...Callahan was all over the ice last night and was very much deserving of the third star for his hard-nosed play.

...while I still don't like the line combos, the Rangers are 2-1 since the switch, despite averaging just two goals in those three games. I'm assuming Renney is going to stick with these combinations since these lines are playing more of the defensive game that he likes.

...I was very happy to get of the schneid last night and finally get a victory. I think when Drury scored I almost jumped through the roof of MSG.
