Neither Callahan or Avery Close to Returning

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes reports neither Ryan Callahan or Sean Avery is close to returning to game action...

"Callahan (right knee) was on the bike, felt slightly better, but didn't even skate on his own, he told me. Avery, his left knee wrapped, watched practice from near the glass and said there wasn't much improvement."

...while the Rangers have a lot going for them right now (opponents losing, schedule, etc.) these two injuries could be what ultimately keeps the Rangers out of the playoffs.

Line-up:
Dubinsky-Christensen-Gaborik
Prospal-Jokinen-Parenteau
Voros-Locke-Drury
Shelley-Anisimov-Prust

Staal-Rozsival
Del Zotto-Girardi
Redden-Eriksson

...Eriksson has quietly had two solid games since being inserted into the line-up.

How 'bout a 3rd defensive pairing of Gilroy/Eriksson? Please?

I'm worried about what this demotion will do to Gilroy's confidence going forward. The kid is going to be a good player for us and I don't think, given the play of some other D guys lately (cough...Redden..cough), that keeping him off this team is the answer for the long or short term.

Also, no Callahan and Avery for the long haul is brutal. If we are going to get in and/or steal a series, those two need to be in there.
