Rangers 5, Lightning 2

The New York Rangers (11-4-1) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (4-4-4) by the score of 5-2 tonight. For a recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.

...someone give Perry Pearn a raise. The man is a power play genius. In all seriousness, it was great to see the power play bounce back from such a horrific effort against the Islanders to help stop a two game slide.

...looks like when Drury scores this year its going to be in bunches. All five of his goals have been scored in just two games. Drury displayed all of his talents tonight with a shorthanded steal and goal (how about Drury participating in shootouts with moves like that), a blast from the circle and a garbage goal on a rebound. Nice to see our Captain step up in an important game.

...Voros finally remembered for him to be effective he has to plant himself in front of the net. Get that guy some ice packs because Lightning goaltender Mike Smith was chopping wood tonight.

...in his return to the Garden, Malik had 1 assist and was the only Lightning player with a + rating for the game with a +1. It's amazing how such a bad defenseman ends up with such a great +/- ratio.

...Vinny Lecavalier is going to be seeing Lundqvist in his dreams when he goes to bed. Lundqvist made at least three highlight reel saves against him tonight.

...off tomorrow then on to our nation's Capital to help President-elect Obama measure for new drapes and if they have time take on some guy named Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

Some guy named Ovechkin? Might be afraid of Semin.

I didn't see the game but I love how Voros pissed the hell out of the Lightning goalie—know your roll!

Malik? I though his +/- was so good on the Rangers because he was always on the ice with Jagr.

M. St. Louis is an awesome player.

Funny how the PP coach should be fired one night and given a raise the next—the sarcasm was lost—but he should be given the equivalent of fat assistant coach wind sprints. The Rangers PP needs to get lower.

Man i cant believe i missed the game. Congrats to Drury! Loved how Voros played. Finally getting back to what he is best at. Finally Mr. Pern, good to see that he can actually make the pp work. Hopefully this will continue!
