As I suspected Nikolai Zherdev decided to take a pass on coming out after being named second star last night because he didn’t feel that he deserved the recognition after being benched says Sam Weinman at The Rangers Report.
...while I can understand the reasoning, I think Zherdev would have been better served taking the recognition anyway in an effort to avoid any possible fan resentment. Similar to when Mets fans got all over Carlos Delgado for not coming out for a curtain call after a big homerun this past season. A little bit different circumstance but it could have ended with the same result.
...thanks to Sam Weinman for the follow-up.
Steve Zipay at Blue Notes says that Scott Gomez 'won't be in the lineup for the third consecutive game (against Vancouver tomorrow) and it's sounding as if he may not make the trip to Ottawa Friday for Saturday's afternoon game.'

I think its ok he didn't come out for the Stars of the Game call-out.
The fans knew he was benched. The fans had to of known he was pissed at himself by his body language after the SO goal...he's usually a wild man but after that goal he was so reserved.
Mets fans put way more faith/desperate faith in Delgado than Rangers do to Zherdev. Whatever, he'll be on fire against Vancouver.
