Korpikoski Recalled & Will Play Tomorrow

With a number of Rangers struggling (cough Prucha & Dawes cough), Steve Zipay at Blue Notes is reporting that the Rangers have recalled Lauri Korpikoski from Hartford and he will be in tomorrow's line-up against Edmonton.

Korpikoski had four goals and two assists with a +7 in four games with the Pack

Here's what Mitch Beck over at Howlings had to say about Korpikoski's performance in Hartford...

"One of the biggest parameters in determining if a player is ready to take the next step is dominating each shift against any opponent. Korpi has done that and more. He's played in every single situation and in all of them has excelled beyond what anyone expected."

...last year Callahan was sent down to Hartford, found his game and contributed mightily to the Rangers stretch run. Let's hope Korpikoski can replicate that this year.

...earlier today I said a Sjostrom-Drury-Fritsche line could be good, but I'd much rather see a Korpikoski-Drury-Fritsche line. With Prucha and Dawes in the press box.

Korpedo had a hat-trick over the weekend, hopefully he can bring his scoring touch with him to NY.

That being said, if he can handle the 3rd line center duties, I would love to see:

Callahan - Gomez - Drury
Voros - Dubinsky - Naslund
Sjostrom - Korpikoski - Zherdev
Fritsche - Betts - Orr

I think that top Gomez line would be a great fit for all parties, Callahan would hardly have to handle the puck and could just work the corners and drive to the net, and Gomez would have 2 wingers who aren't afraid to pump shots on net.
