Worst Eklund Rumor of All-Time: Dubinsky & Prucha for Bouwmeester

Eklund over at HockeyBuzz is reporting...

Dubinsky and Prucha to Florida for Jay Bouwmeester...There was a time when we were being told that Jay Bo would be a deadline deal if at all.. Now I am told, "all bets are off as Florida is maybe two to three losses away from a panic situation."

The Rangers will have to battle the Flyers, Leafs, and Canadiens (at the very least) for Bouwmeester.

...not that I need to give an explanation as to why this would never happen, but there is no way the Rangers are trading their future captain for someone who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

...and as usual Eklund neglects to look at the cap situation as the Rangers cannot fit Bouwmeester's $4.875 salary under the cap while only giving up Dubinsky's $633,333 and Prucha's $1.6 million.

...i'm sure Eklund's next post will be that the Rangers will be filling Dubinsky's spot by signing Mats Sundin, now that they're over the cap.

...i know, why do I keep posting this stuff. Hey if nothing else it's entertaining.

Maybe it's not so crazy, as Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun says the Rangers are one of several teams that could be interested in Bouwmeester. Although I think the Sun is like the New York Post of Ottawa so I don't know what to believe.
