Tonight the New York Rangers (12-5-2) defeated the New Jersey Devils (7-6-2) by the score of 5-2. For a recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.
...it's amazing what happens when you shoot from the point on the power play. Actually it looked like the defense was looking to shoot all night (9 shots). As a group they ended with a goal and four assists for the game.
...what is up with these slow starts? With the way we started tonight you would have thought the Ranger players didn't get the memo that Brodeur wasn't playing. However for the second straight game we found our legs in the second and pummelled the goalie with shots (37 total in the 2nd and 3rd periods). And lucky for us Kevin Weekes was in goal. Man is he bad.
...i thought the turning point of the game was the ridiculous save Lundqvist made on Zubrius early in the second with the Rangers trailing 1-0. If that goes in who knows what direction this game goes.
...with Gomez sitting tonight, I actually liked the lines. I thought they were all balanced and seemed to have good chemistry. The one line I'd like to see stick was the Naslund-Drury-Callahan line. Maybe we should look to trade Gomez. Calm down, I was just kidding.
...Staal was a monster out there tonight. He was looking to shoot and played a very physical game. Our other young blueliner Girardi had two more assists tonight to give him a team leading 12 on the season and he now has points in 6 of 7 games (1 goal & 6 assists). Is there anyway we can swap Staal & Girardi's contracts with Rozsival and Redden's?
...got to give props to Kalinin. The guy was on the verge of becoming the next Malik early on this year, but it looks like he's found his comfort zone and has really played solid defense for us lately.
...how great is Betts on the penalty kill? The guy isn't going to score you goals or be a play maker, but his ability on the penalty kill is worth his weight in gold. With a 4 for 4 tonight, the Rangers penalty kill is now at 90% good for third in the league.
...big win to stop a mini-slide. Two days off then the Bruins are in town for the first of three straight home games.

Damn, I missed the game! You used "we" and "our" a lot more in this post than past ones...not sure how I like that.
what i love about our division is we have so many home games if you include the islanders and devils games which are so close to home and also often have so many Rangers fans there to support. which is great. Also philly and pitt are pretty close as well. If your someone that is concerned about road games wearing on the team you dont have to worry to much with the Rangers. we are lucky
C'mon Jack we're all one big happy Ranger family. Having said that I'll look to cut down on the "wes" and "ours".
Not sure where you live nyrfan but I live in Albany and was quite excited to watch the rangers kick ass last night but when it came time to watch the game the damn Buffalo game was on (it was on MSG too). The games are blacked out about 20 times a year but it just gets annoying. Just felt the need to vent. Not sure if any readers experience the same frustration.
I'm from LI. And last night the Knicks were on MSG and the Devils broadcasters were on MSG 2, so for the Ranger fans to hear there own announcers we had to watch the game on the Cablevision TV listings station which had a terrible picture.
Not sure how MSG can justify bumping the Rangers announcers from MSG2 when they own the team.
Yea I'd rather listen to Devils commentators for just one game (which does seem odd that they would bump ranger announcers on a MSG channel) than have the damn Sabres on. I still don't understand why they would bump the Rangers from MSG+ over the Sabres.
O-well there is always Saturdays game.
I caught most of the game on local 660am sports radio...and it was the Devils announcers. Nice for a change, plus I could always take a break from Sam Rosen and Joe Mic, I like those two but I also like hearing another spin.
