...when the Rangers decided not to re-sign two of the most prolific goal scorers in NHL history (Jagr and Shanahan) as well as someone who could add instant passion to a passionless Ranger effort (Avery), you knew there were going to be games like this. The Rangers lack that one offensive player who can turn a game around. I'm not suggesting we go out tomorrow and re-sign Shanahan or bring in Sundin, but if this team doesn't give maximum effort every night there are going to be games similar to this one all year.
...Naslund looks like he is the first player to get in, as John Davidson liked to call it, Renney's 'chateau bow-wow.' As he sat most of the third period. Although with the way he played tonight you would have thought he sat the whole game.
...first game this year that the special teams failed us. Two power play goals against, 1 shorthanded goal against and 0 for 4 on the power play.
...i think it's officially time to either move Prucha or send him down. He couldn't score on an empty net right now. I don't have any confidence (and I don't think he has any either) that he can be productive for this team. Plus the under-sized Prucha-Korpikoski-Callahan line looked like a pee-wee team out there against Buffalo. A Fritsche or Rissmiller would be a better fit on that line.
...thought Lundqvist struggled a bit holding on to rebounds tonight. Two of which lead directly to Sabres goals.
...right back at it Friday night against the Ryan Hollwegless Toronto Maple Leafs at MSG. You think Ranger officials will have to scrap the Hollweg video montage since he won't be in the line-up?

I hear you on the tide changing "power forward." The Rangers met their match tonight—it is what it is. Every team has a formula and we've seen the Rangers' formula work flawlessly but sometimes other teams' strategies just work better. That's how the Rangers lost. Gomez looked good but Naslund might have well been a no-show—what's his role again?
The power play looked awful. Despite the numbers the Rangers' power play really hasn't been that good, seriously.
To early to give up on NAslund, but right now he looks like the worst signing of all time.
I actually thought Prucha had his best game in a long time, and that the cally korpi, prucha line was the best of the night.
I dont fault Lundqvist on the SH goal, tough/hard slap shot to hold on to a rebound, not to mention no one coming back to help clear a rebound when your a man up is a disgrace.
Thought this look like a team that played alot of games w/ very few days off.
Im not sure but did Buffalo block more shots than the Rangers actually had on goal?
Yes, the Sabres looked like the blocked a ton of shots.
