Steve Zipay at Blue Notes wonders with the signing of Dan Fritsche what the opening night line-up will look like. Among the questions Zipay looks at are what happens to Blair Betts and Artim Anisimov? Does Dubinsky or Drury move to the wing? And should the Rangers sign Shanahan or Sundin? Zipay also gives his dream line-up...
Naslund-Sundin-Drury
Zherdev-Gomez-Callahan
Dawes-Dubinsky-Sjostrom
Voros-Fritsche-Byers/Orr/Korpikoski
...lots of tough decisions to be made.
Zipay also mentions that Nigel Dawes and Fredrik Sjostrom are still unsigned. On July 1st he reported that the Rangers gave both of them qualifying offers. (See here). Does that mean Dawes and Sjostrom haven't accepted the offers? I'm going to send Zipay an e-mail to find out.

I think under the circumstances, the Rangers need to sign Sundiin or Shanny. I think Sundin has great er upside and adds leadership to what is a very young team.
Shanny was 3rd in goals on the team last year and 4 th in points, no to mention the unofficial captain.
The team is definetly Druy's and Gomez's but to ask them to do all the scoring and be leaders without some veteran help is alot
I think there is enough leadership on this team to be able to go on without Shanahan. Plus, as I've already said about Sundin in previous post, I don't think he fits into the Rangers plan to get younger and faster.
I do think we need another proven goal scorer, 2nd line winger,Sundin doesn't fit the plan of younger and faster. I do believe he has some good hockey left in him, but there is a good chance he'll get injured and we don't need anther center.
