"For once, there will be a Rangers team with no overpaid forward. This is a team that I've been waiting to see for quite some time.
But instead of being happy, fans complain about what we haven't done. They don't appreciate the excellent work Glen Sather has done in putting this team together."
...i don't think this is a Ranger fan problem, I think its a New York fan problem. New York fans are never happy. You just won a championship, good for you, win me another. 10 game winning strike, big deal, I want 11.
...the most recent example is Giants fans. Eli Manning was just named Super Bowl MVP while leading the Giants to one of the greatest upsets in sports history and now just as the Giants start training camp you're actually hearing Giants fans questioning Manning.
...New York sports fans also have a win now or get out of town mentality. The best example of this are Yankee fans. They're so spoiled from the championships of the late 90's and early 2000, that they actually wanted to get rid of the greatest baseball player of this era, A-Rod, because they haven't won a World Series since his arrival, despite him being a major factor in getting the Yankees into the playoffs every year. Do you know what a Kansas City Royals fan would do just to get his team to finish the year over .500?

Instead of having an overpaid forward (which we still do with Drury, until he brings Stanley to Broadway), we have an overpaid defenseman in Redden. I can be happy. I like being happy. I would be happy if Sather's moves made sense and tearing apart a Cup contender doesn't make sense. It isn't a rebuild as he eliminated roster spots that should have been contended for by kids. It is just demolition for the sake of pride and that sucks. We will see how it works out ...
That's what I love about New York. We expect and demand to win. If not, there's a problem and the fans will let you know. Take the Knicks for example. "Fire Isiah" got the message across. New York fans are on the whole very knowledgable. They will let you know if they aren't happy with you. It's a tough town, but we just want to win.
Actually most Ranger fans I have spoken to are happy with the direction of the team. So either the people I've spoken to are in the minority or "The Ranger Fans are Never Happy" thing is bullshit.
From what I've seen the breakdown seems to be 50/50 on the moves this summer. Myself, I like the look of the team.
I think not only in sports but in life in general you should always strive to be better and win a championship/be a champion.
As for NYRFan, I have not heard one giant fan or sports figure question Eli this offseason, i believe you are talking out of your butt on that one.
2nd, please do not talk of the Yankees, when you are clearly a Met fan who is happy being a 2nd rate organization. I love that yankee fans bicth when they are losing or dont win a championship, its not entitlement that the fans feel, it the enjoyment and satisfaction with being and rooting for the best, and wanting that feeling every year.
I am happy with the Rangers getting younger and faster this season, and hope that the line combos gel in time to have a great start to the season, sometimes you have to pay a bit more for talent and leadership to get the best, and I think thats what drury and gomez are.
