Barnaby to Take Over as ESPN Lead Hockey Analyst?

Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole blog reports...

"Barnaby, who makes the occasional appearance on TSN, noted he was going to meet with ESPN executives about the open position as lead NHL analyst with the WorldWide Leader."

...just when I thought television couldn't get any worse. Although, Barnaby can't be worse than Melrose.

What in the world are you talking about?? Melrose was a GREAT analyst and I think Barnaby will do very well too. I would have rather had an established guy like Brian Engblom (even with his ridiculous head of hair), but I think Barnaby would be a likeable guy.

Melrose is the biggest Ranger hater out there. How as a Ranger fan can you like him? As far a Barnaby goes, I haven't seen him on his TSN appearances, but similar to you I'd rather have an established guy. I'm afraid Barnaby wouldn't bring a seriousness to his reporting.

Melrose is horrible....the ESPN commentaries and analysis of the NHL is a joke they show a 2 minute clip of a hockey game and then move on to a different sport. Just switch over to the NHL network.

How is it Melrose's fault if ESPN only shows 2 minutes? Melrose has said on air that the NHL needs more highlight time, and has probably upset his superiors by showing them up like that. He always gave clear, concise analysis and was fun to watch, especially when teaming up with Buccigross, who is a big hockey guy.

Melrose was an excellent ambassador for hockey and always said the nhl deserved more airtime, I never felt he took sides in his reporting,
Not having seen barnaby do any thing on tv other than play hockey, lets wait and see, best of luck to him
