PROTEAU’S TYPE FOR WORST ACTOR IN A DRAMA:
Runners-Up: Jose Theodore as the No. 1 goalie in Washington; Dany Heatley as a Devoted Team Player in Ottawa; Glen Sather as The Man With A Plan in Manhattan; Marian Gaborik as Someone Willing To Honestly Consider Re-Signing with Minnesota.
...despite my praise of Sather in the previous post you do have to wonder if this guy has a plan sometimes.

While Sather may appear to lack a long-term plan, there is no question that he is a master at carrying out short-to-medium term plans.
His maneuverings last week to essentially trade Gomez for Higgins, McDonough and Gaborik was genius, as well as his moves to re-acquire Avery at no cost and half his original salary. He doesn't get enough credit for some of the coups he pulls off. If Gomez and Drury were producing like they had for other teams, he would be viewed as a genius, but because players underachieve he takes the heat.
Sather has no idea of how to put together a team that can win the cup. Sure he can get some deals done but a GM needs to put a TEAM together not just some random marque players to fill seats.
Dump him and give the job to Messier. He knows what it takes to win a cup.
