Rangers Likely Interested In Zubov

Larry Brooks at the New York Post says because of the Rangers lack of offense from their defensemen Glen Sather is likely to check in on Sergei Zubov...

"...the general manager does have an obligation to address the situation at the power play point, also known as the black hole.

For if the Blueshirts are counting on either Michal Rozsival or Wade Redden to be dramatically better than they were last season (and, in Rozsival's case, the year before last, as well), they are setting themselves up for disappointment and failure.

To that end, Sather is likely to check in on old buddy Sergei Zubov."

Zubov, who will be 39 in three weeks, is coming off hip surgery.

...i'd be all in for acquiring Zubov maybe five years ago. But there is no need to bring in a 39 year-old defenseman coming off major hip sugery.

...however the nostalgia would be great.

...and this is another example of how the Redden signing is killing the Rangers. Not only did the they handcuff themselves cap-wise they now need to spend even more money to continue the search for a power play quarterback they didn't get with Redden.

If Zubov could be had for cheap on a one year deal, I would be all for it. Why not?

Hell yea, bring Zubie on board. He HAS to be better than Redden (I'm not really anti-Rosival)...he could be good for all the young D guys we have.

How legit is this rumor, are Dallas Stars bloggers spinning this too?
