...great another border line NHL forward under contract. There is going to be some competition for the fourth line. Where's Blair Betts when you need him.
I'm not sure if you have gotten the chance to see Lisin play or read about him, but he is a solid young player. The kid scored 13 goals in 48 games last season, which over the course of an 82 game NHL season would be around 22 goals. He is one of the fastest skaters in the league. I think this guy is going to net over 20 goals this season, and will be a very good 3rd line player, and a young player we will want to keep around. One of the things our prospect system lacks is a fast, creative, skilled winger (not a banger and shooter like Callahan). This kid gives us that dynamic that we were lacking.
I think you underestimate this guy. He seems to be more than a borderline player. And I hope he's not playing on the 4th line. I think he has a good shot of thriving with Torts. And by the way $790,000 is nothing, you want to talk about borderline NHler check out Voros and his 1 million dollar contract.
Korpo was a solid player, but he didn't have much offensive upside. The NYR have some prospects in the Korpo mold (Byers, Hagelin), but they don't have others like Lisin. This is good trade for a decent player with a lot more upside than Korpo. Size, speed, a shot, and some creativity for 790k? Who's complaining about this?!
Trust me, I hope I'm wrong but if this guy can be penciled in for 20+ goals a season, why would Phoenix trade him? I remember last year when Ranger fans were penciling Zherdev in for 30+ goals. How'd that work out?

PS - at $790,000 he is a bargain, considering he made $850,000 last year. This guy is exciting and should be an impact NHL player.

They would trade him because Maloney wants as many ex-Rangers as he can get.
