Free Agency Frenzy Tracker

Similar to how I posted during the Trade Deadline, I will have one long thread with the most recent signings or trades at the top. I'll also mix in as much Rangers news as I can. The fun starts at noon so check back all day long or follow me on Twitter...

- Ok boys and girls its time for me to take a break. Long day so far. I'll be back later on tonight, when hopefully I'll be blogging about a great move Sather made instead of moaning about losing Orr and only signing Brashear and maybe Neil. Ugh. In the meanwhile check out Steve Zipay's winners and losers of today's signings at Blue Notes.

- Leafs trade Pavel Kubina to Atlanta for Garnet Exelby. (TSN)

- Canadiens sign Mike Cammallari for five years, $30 million. (TSN)

- Flyers sign Ian Laperierre for three years, $3.5 million. (RDS)

- Rangers only team offering Neil four years, all other only offering three. (Ranger Rants)...Sather can't give Orr four years, but he can to Neil. For all the good he did yesterday, he doing just as much bad today.

- Rangers out of Heatley sweepstakes. (Ranger Report)

- Duck re-sign Niedermayer. (TSN)

- Canadiens sign Spacek and Gill. (TSN)

- Rangers in the mix for Ottawa right wing Chris Neil. (Ranger Rants)...why?

- Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins have not resumed earlier trade talks involving Phil Kessel and Tomas Kaberle. (TSN)

- Blue Jackets make contract offer to Rick Nash, numbers not mentioned. (Columbus Dispatch)

- Oilers sign Nikolai Khabibulin to a four-year, $15 million deal. (ESPN)

- Capitals sign Mike Knuble, 2 year, $2.8 million (TSN)...would have rather had Knuble then Brashear at the same value.

- Rangers sign Donald Brashear, 2 years, $2.8 million. (TSN)...the Betts incident in the playoffs really puts a bad taste in my mouth with this signing. If that incident doesn't happen I'm a lot happier with this move.

- Islanders sign G Dwayne Roloson, 2 years for $5 million. (TSN, Rangers Report)...this move shows that the Islanders have no faith in the health of DiPietro.

- Rumor that Rangers have signed tough guy Donald Brashear. (SNY Rangers Blog)...if this is true what a slap in the face to Blair Betts. Especially if the Rangers don't re-sign him.

- Avalanche sign G Craig Anderson for two years. (FAN 590)

- Hossa to Chicago, 12 years, $5.2 million per. (ESPN)

- Rangers may be interested in enforcer Brian McGrattan of Coyotes; Kovalev re-signs with Canadiens. (Blue Notes)

- Nik Antropov's phone has been ringing early and often. (ESPN)

- Leafs sign Colton Orr to four-year contract worth $4 million. (TSN, Ranger Report)...that is a big blow to the Rangers. They just opened up all this cap space and they can't give Orr $1 per. Awful.

- Chicago close to signing Hossa. (Darren Dreger of TSN via Twitter)...is Hossa just going to keep signing one year deals so he can choose what team he thinks is going to win the Cup the next season and sign with them?

- Florida has re-signed Radek Dvorak. Two years for 3.4 million total. (TSN)

- Update on Rangers Prospect Camp. (Rangers Rants)

- Tampa signs D Mattias Ohland, seven-years for $24.5 million. (TSN)

- Rangers a top contender to land Penguins D Rob Scuderi. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)...his stock really rose due to his performance in the playoffs.

- Believed that Rangers will talk to Dallas about Brad Richards. (New York Post)

- Heatley never said no to waive his no trade clause, so deal to Edmonton may still be on. (ESPN)

- Rangers may be interested in ex-Ranger Mikael Samuelsson. Other possible targets Gaborik and Knuble. (Ranger Rants)

- Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy says the overall reaction to the Scott Gomez trade is that the Canadiens got fleeced. (Puck Daddy)

- Sedin Twins re-sign with Vancouver Canucks for five years, averaging $6.1 million a season. (TSN)

The Trib doesn't know what it's talking about. (I'm a Ranger fan in Pittsburgh - that paper is NEVER right). Why would we be looking to sign a moderately expensive defenseman right now?

I hate Brashear...would have much rather been Orr back...I dont care if he has zero offensive ability...atleast he isnt a cheap shot artist

Wow. I fcukin' HATE Brashear. I thought talentless, slow, ham fisted goons like him were phased out after the lockout? Jesus christ this blows.

This is a disaster.. This proves that sather is clueless. Brashear is gonna get hell at the garden.

I defintitely understand where you're all coming from regarding Brashear but at the same time, I think it's important to understand that he is one of those players that gives it all for his team, whether that means cheap shots, big hits, anything. He reminds me a lot of Avery in the way that he will bother any and all teams and that's just the way he plays, even if facing off against old teams (when he was with Dallas) But hey, we forgave him! I believe it's somewhat the same with Brashear, I think the Garden will not give him hell as long as he defends our team just as hard as he did Capitals.

Yeah, but Brashear sucks as a hockey player. He's a fringe NHL-er and it's amazing he's NHL caliber.

so we have Avery, Brashear, Boyle, and now Neil they are going after?

this makes now sense.
