Upbeat Practice

Sam Weinman at The Rangers Report notes an upbeat practice today from Rye.

The Rangers say they are content to be back to the defensive style that defined the early part of their season. Here's Markus Naslund on the team's recent play...

“The last three or four games we’ve really gotten back to working,” Naslund said. “We weren’t making lazy plays, but now we’re more on our toes. It’s a work in progress, but we’re headed in the right direction.”

Looks like someone is getting a big head as Weinman explains this encounter with reporters and Lauri Korpikoski...

Great line from Lauri Korpikoski when walking past a bunch of us in the Rangers’ dressing room. “Goal scorer coming through,” he said.

...who knew Korpikoski had a sense of humor. Great stuff.

...not exactly excited to hear the team is content on getting back to their defensive ways. I think I just need to give up on my pipe dream that the Rangers will become a high scoring, back and forth team and just accept what they are and support them going forward.

I think it's time to face the facts...we need to be defensive in order to win. We usually lose the high scoring games (6-3 loss to MTL, 8-5 loss to NJ). We just aren't built to be a high-powered offense.

Sadly, I agree with you 100%.

There is no reason to be sad...just win consistently.....
