Eklund: Rangers Interested in Doan

Eklund at HockeyBuzz (notice no link) says that the Rangers and Sabres are talking to the Coyotes about Shane Doan...

Eklund's "source" said...

"At this point the Rangers have the best offer, but the Sabres are serious and going to up the ante maybe as early as this afternoon."

Doan currently has 18 goals, 22 assists and is a +8 on the season. Doan also has three years left on his contract at $4.55 million per. The Coyotes are $9.7 million under the cap.

...with continued outcry against me posting links to Eklund (last month I polled my readers and a large majority wanted me to keep posting the infamous anonymous blogger's rumors), I've decided to meet everyone half way. I will be posting the rumor, but not a link to Eklund's site in an effort to keep my readers from visiting his site and possibly paying him for more false rumors.

...now that the NHL is financing the Coyotes, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to make a trade with them. However they do have cap space if they wanted to trade Doan for say a grossly over-paid, broken down, so-called power play specialist defenseman with five years left on his contract and only 5 power play points on the year.

Maybe Sanguinetti was recalled to take the place of a defenseman who will be traded to Phoenix, or maybe Rozsival is really hurt...that spill looked nasty, or maybe Sanguinetti is going to be the one traded. Who knows?
