Sabres 2, Rangers 1, SO

The New York Rangers (24-15-4) lost to the Buffalo Sabres (21-15-5) by the score of 2-1 in a shootout, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...never has it been more apparent that this team needs a finisher than tonight. While Miller was on, the Rangers have to bury some of those chances and I don't think they have the personnel to do that on a consistant basis.

...another outstanding effort by Valiquette. With the way he's played this year the back-up goaltender deserves a better record than 4-3-2.

...the fourth line was by far the best line on the ice for the Rangers tonight. Orr was the sole reason for the Rangers lone goal tonight.

...didn't see how Rozsival was doing after the game, but it's safe to say that he's going to feel that one in the morning.

...in my continuing effort to keep you guys updated on the failures of the Rangers power play we had another o'fer tonight (0 for 2). We are now 27th in the league on the power play with a paltry 14.6% success rate. And somehow Perry Pearn will make the trip with the team to Ottawa tonight.

...right back at it tomorrow night against the Sens.

are there any 600-700 goal scorers available, that may have played for the Rangers in recent history?

While Perry Pearn should have been fired after last seasons awful PP performance in the playoffs, I dont understand how Glen Sather has not taken a huge hit this season. It was Sather who thought you could replace the goal scoring of Jagr, Shanny, with Zherdev and Nasland. OK maybe that will still work out, its been ok at best.
However. maybe you need a guy like Straka instead of Rismiller or Fritshe. Maybe you need Avery, instead of Voros. Maybe instead of spending 5 mil per season on 2 middle of he road defenseman maybe you should have gone after Hossa, to add a legit scoring threat on the front lines and given some of our D-men in Hartford a shot...I believe the last time we gave an unknown d-man from the wolfpack a shot, it turned out pretty well...Dan Girardi ring any bells?
Awful job by Sather, and it needs to be addressed!

Yeup, I've been saying it all year, this team needs someone who can just manufacture wins through sheer dominance. Someone who can take a game by the scruff...

im so sick of this team just throwing shots on net...rarely any good rebounds or plays are made by this team...its sad we pay gomez and drury almost 14mill a season for them just to throw the puck on net...
