Shanahan A Devil

TSN is reporting that Brendan Shanahan is joining the Devils, but has yet to agree to terms on a contract and it isn't clear at this point when that will happen or when he will be ready to play a game with them.

Here's a statement from the Devils...

"Brendan Shanahan has agreed in principle to join the New Jersey Devils," general manager Lou Lamoriello said in a statement. "He will begin skating on his own.

"Brendan will join the team at a date to be determined."

...this is worst case scenario for the Rangers. We can't score and now the Devils just picked up one of the most prolific scorers in NHL history. Sweet.

...i bet Shanahan will be chomping at the bit to get back on the ice and help the Devils pass the Rangers in the standings.

...having said all that I'm still glad we didn't sign him.

Yes, while he was a great scorer (I usually save the word "prolific" for players like Ovechkin and Bure), he is still 2 weeks away from even thinking about playing in a real game, and it will take him time to get into the swing of things. Oh, right. He's 40 and hasn't played a game in 9 months!

I doubt he helps the Devils at all.
