Stars 10, Rangers 2

The New York Rangers (29-19-5) lost to the Dallas Stars (25-17-9) by the score of 10-2, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...since I wasted enough of my time watching that embarrassment, I'm not going to waste anymore writing about it.

...what I am going to write about is where this team goes from here. Renney has tried to change the lines. Doesn't work. Bring up players from Hartford. Doesn't work. Skate them hard during practice. Doesn't work. And we don't have the cap room to bring someone in. So what do they do? I think it might be time for something drastic. And I don't mean firing an assistant coach or Renney. They all deserve the year and a chance to turn this around. If not they're all gone during the off-season. Renney has an opportunity to send a real message to this team on Monday by sitting Scott Gomez, the biggest culprit of the Rangers terrible play of late, against his former team in New Jersey. If that doesn't send a message to the entire team that this type of play is unacceptable then these guys are hopeless and Sather should do whatever he can to clean house at the trading deadline.

...i tell you what, watching Steve Ott terrorize the Rangers from one end of the ice to the other sure made me miss Sean Avery.

...whether Renney decides to sit Gomez or not on Monday, huge game against the Devils.

Yeup. Wow. I'll have more to say tomorrow but that game was AWFUL. Never mind the 10 goals.

Our back-up goalie played well tonight too.

That was just... well, to put it bluntly, this team is becoming a nightmare.

I agree with you, Renney needs to send a message. Sit Gomez against the Devils. Show the players that this type of heartless, gutless play will not stand. If we're going to lose, I'd rather lose with players who seem to care about the result at least. Unfortunately, we can't sit two-thirds of the team.

Instead though, Renney will scratch Prucha once again. It's obvious why -- if any of you watched the game tonight, it's clear that Prucha was the reason for the team's collapse. (/sarcasm)

As for Avery... I want him back too, and that scares me that the Rangers are so bad and lacking fire that I actually want him back.

Also, Gomez said after the game that tonight wasn't rock bottom... oh really? So we have further self destruction to look forward to? Yay!

i think Slats basically tells Tom to sit Prucha cause he signed that lame-o Voros.

I still have faith in Tom.

In the beginning at the season, this was a team that no matter what the score was in the 3rd period, they were going to play hard and on most nights came back to win....Now, in rd periods hat are close that seem to cave in...where is the leadership?

Was this game a message sent to Renney fom his team after a punishing practice?

I agree with NYRFAN, Gomez must sit next game, while he is not the only one to blame, he is by far the biggest problem on the ice....to many turnovers, while not coming back to help the defense after he gives up the puck....

Again, where is the leadership on this team?

It's hard, but I hate to keep saying, "Who runs this team?" It's so hard to figure out what the leadership chemistry is on this team and how "leadership" is executed on the ice.

I feel like there's no sacrifice. Tonight against Dallas Zherdev was the best player on the ice. Cally played really hard...but who else? Damn, I bitched about the forth line but they played well tonight... Kinda.

Anyowho, I won't lose sleep if there's a new coach behind the bench. So far I can say that Gomez and Drury, as much as I love them as players, have zero leadership skills on the ice. I'd love to know what Gomer said to Renney on the bench halfway though when they were being hammered.

Fans want to see passion...we're about one player away from that (cough, cough).

The "rebuild" concept was awesome at the beginning the season...no more focal points (Jagr, Avery, Shanny)....just a "solid" TEAM that would get us through the...regular season?. Playoffs? Stanley Cup?

The first quarter of the season they were the first guys to the puck. Every time. Now they keep backing up...and backing up...sigh.

No "enigmatic" Jagr. No "locker room drama queen Avery." No "past-his-prime-has-been" Shanny. Just some new guys, a new system and Gomez and Drury....so...the Rangers leave Henrik and his backup out to dry every night. Watch the Penns and the Rangers swap spots for last place before the playoff birth.

I'm ALMOST thinking about...instead of spending $1,000+ on season tickets and just throwing a few bucks at Caps games...taking Amtrak once a moth to watch Ovechkin and Semin.

Ouch!

More windsprints for the Strangers!

Lord did I really miss Avery last night watching that game. It took way to long for Orr to go after Ott. Sorry Colton, but it was a little bit too late to take action. You should have gone after him in the 2nd period.

I agree about sitting Gomez. If the message doesn't get through with a benching, I don't know what will. Maybe a trip to Hartford?

Will someone please rescue Prucha from the press box and send Voros up to replace him. Renney bitches about not getting consistancy from Petr. Well Tom you don't give him enough of a chance. One not so great game and you send him back up to the press box. If Renney acted like that with the rest of the team, the press box would be filled to capacity and the bench would be almost empty. Staal, Mara, Zherdev, Betts and Cally are the only ones in my opinion who show consistancy in their play. I love ya Hank, but things haven't been that great of late in front of the net.

Another thought on Avery...wouldn't it be great that just about the time Marty is back on the ice he will have to face his "favorite" pest. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.

Great comments. Too bad it took a 10-2 pasting to get them.
