Rangers 5, Capitals 4, SO

The New York Rangers (30-20-5) defeated the Washington Capitals (34-16-5) by the score of 5-4 in a shootout, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...who was that team and what did they do with the Rangers? Crashing the net, skating hard, playing with passion. I loved it. Now why can't they play like this all the time?

...the tone for the night was set right away by Orr challenging the toughest guy in the league Brashear and more than holding his own. And nice job by Voros following it up with a scrap of his own.

...i think we finally found a line that works. Korpikoski-Drury-Callahan were flying tonight. Callahan was the best player on the ice.

...a close second was Marc Staal who was tremendous in shutting down Ovechkin.

...what are we going to do about this power play? It is killing this team. The Capitals were just begging the Rangers to beat them in third period with four straight penalties. It's just unfathomable how Perry Pearn still has a job. The power play is now 1 for their last 24. I didn't think that was possible.

...does tonight's win count towards Avery's win/loss record when he's with the team, because technically by playing for the Wolf Pack he's with the organization. No?

...off day tomorrow to enjoy this one, then off to sunny Florida to take on the Panthers Friday.

That was pretty much a Festivus miracle. Take from that what you may.

I totally agree. It was a very welcome change last night after the previous 5 games. The only let down of the night was the power play. Seriously, they couldn't get at least one goal during that 4 minute double minor? Someone please show Perry Pern the door.
