General Manager Bob Gainey said Tuesday he met with Kovalev to tell him he won't be on the team's trip this week for games Wednesday night in Washington and Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
Gainey said the right-winger appears to be tired and has not been playing well of late.
...both the Rangers and Canadiens are in a downward spiral. The only difference is that the Canadiens are doing something about it. First they bring in veteran defenseman Schneider, now they're sending a message that lazy hockey is unacceptable.
...how great would it be if Sather or Renney actually sent a message and sent Gomez, Drury or Redden home to think about their lackluster play? Sadly, that is something that would never happen on this team. It seems that the Rangers are back to the Country Club mentality that plagued them in the late 90's and early 2000.

Great move by Montreal's management.
