Stu Hackel at Slap Shots adds to the notion that the Rangers are just not a good team by exposing their torrid start to the season...
"In their first 16 games, of which they won 11, they beat the “Gong Show” Lightning three times, the Maple Leafs, the Islanders, the Thrashers, the Blue Jackets, a Dallas team en route to imploding, a Blackhawks team about to fire its coach, the Flyers who would be winless in their first six games and the Penguins.
If that good start now looks like a mirage, the schedule might be a reason why."
...i actually disagree with Hackel here. I think the Rangers were playing some really good hockey in the beginning of the season. Sure they beat some bottom feeders at the time, but if you actually went back and watched those games the Rangers were playing an up-tempo, maximum effort type game.
...i think if you looked at the next 16 games of the season then you'd start to see the makings of a bad team. Lots of shootout victories and not a lot of scoring.

They were playing very fun hockey before the All Star break. Remember when they played Detroit (but lost). They kicked so much ass that night...
