Rumor: Mega Deal Would Bring Both Avery & Sundin to Rangers

Scott Burnside at ESPN.com reports on the possibility that the Rangers will try to make cap room for Mats Sundin by dealing Michal Rozsival to Dallas in exchange for Sean Avery, whom they would send to their AHL team in Hartford.

However Burnside's sources didn't think the likelihood of such a deal was all that great.

Pierre LeBrun, also at ESPN.com, suspects if Avery ever went on re-entry waivers, Rangers GM Glen Sather might think long and hard about signing him especially at $2 million a year.

FYI Eklund at HockeyBuzz is actually dismissing this rumor, so you know it must be real.

...that is one crazy rumor. Avery has stated recently that he'd be willing to go to the AHL, so you never know.

...i suspect if this ever happens Avery wouldn't be down in Hartford too long.

...as unlikely as this rumor is, I don't think you'll find too many Rangers fans right now that would argue against it.
