Joe, I saw that. Locke was a big time scorer in the AHL. Not sure if it'll translate into the NHL, but he could be someone the Rangers wish they didn't let go.
the young dmen can not compare their salaries to those earned by ufas. the system does not work that way. not in negotiations and not in arbitration - it is not allowed to be brought into the process in arb.
Sorry i missed the chat, but with all the Kovy talk I just want to say again: If the devils give him the big bucks he wants, with their current cap situation, the will have to lose alot of role players. Probably not as bad as what Chicago just had to do, but still very significant.
DAMN! I wanted to participate but fell asleep 3:50AM and it started at 4 my time =(
One question... Why doesnt the NHL have the salary likesoccer in Europe? When you get traded you negotiate a new contract with your new team. I don't really see the point of signing a contract and your new team has to carry a contract signed by some idiot GM (Sather - Redden - Gomez etc) ???
well a team has to agree to a deal. so they have to agree with palyers moving both ways AND the salaries/yrs remaining of the players. nobodies holding a gun to their head to make the deal

I still think he wants to go to LA, but that might be too much for him to turn down.
