Rangers vs. Devils Game Preview

Today, the New York Rangers (15-12-2) take on the red hot New Jersey Devils (16-10-2) at MSG. The Devils will try to extend their winning streak to 10 games and finally beat their rivals as they play the Rangers, who are trying to avoid a four-game losing streak. The Rangers have allowed just three goals to New Jersey (16-10-2) in their three wins, including a 4-2 road victory Nov. 14 in the most recent meeting. For a full preview, go to Yahoo! Sports.

...this game seems eerily similar to when the Rangers met the Devils in the first round of the playoffs in 2006. The Rangers were sputtering and the Devils had won like 18 in a row. We all know how that turned out with the Devils sweeping the Rangers right out of the playoffs. Let's hope the Rangers aren't white washed like that today.

...I thought the effort in Atlanta was much better than the last two against Carolina and Toronto, so I'm hoping the team can build on that momentum.

...although I have been calling for Renney to move Drury to the first line, the line combo of Prucha-Drury-Callahan has probably been the team's best line these last few games. Their speed should be able to create some scoring chances.

...then there's Lundqvist. Since Lundqvist's first rest of the season in Toronto, he hasn't seemed right. Not terrible by any stretch of the imagination (minus the last game versus Toronto), but just a bit off. Hopefully, the stinker against Toronto plus sitting out the Atlanta game will get Lundqvist going again.

...after a 10-3-1 November, the Rangers have struggled with a 1-3 start to December. Holiday blues?

...didn't notice anything online today suggesting any roster moves or lineup changes, but it's a bit early in the day. This is my last update until after the game, so to track any last minute news go to Rangers Report or Blue Notes.
