How does the NHL expect to prevent head injuries in the game, when they only give a 3 game suspension for a dirty hit.....

Any time a player delivers a dirty hit away rom the puck to the head it should be 15 game suspension no questions asked!!!!

What a joke!!

The thing i know for sure is the rangers players and perhaps torts are a bunch of cowards...letting their captain getting hit like that and their goalie get run over on a regular basis.

Torts and the league have told all of the other teams that it's OK to hit the Rangers: whether it's blindly in the open ice, or in the blue paint. "Go ahead, give us your best shot, please".

After seeing the hit several times on replay I think it's an outrage that we don't retaliate. However, I think that the person who was on the ice at the time it happened and who would've done this (Avery) didn't dare to do it. Reason number one is NHL. With him being on probation (for the rest of his career?) not only would he get the instigator but probably a suspension as well just for being Sean Avery. If it would mean a $10K fine for Torts (like in the Byers case)it would probably be the end to his Blueshirt career as well. I'm a big fan of Torts, his coaching and play style but sometimes you need to let the cannons loose. If Avery hit a Flame, blindside like this, he would probably look at retirement while Ovechkin and others are slaughtering people with cowardly hits and slide through. Obviously I'm a Ranger so is it a fair or an unfair hit is irrelevant. He hit your (like you said) bleeping captain!
