"The Caps look absolutely lost and it all comes down to Boudreau. Clearly, what he did in the first game wasn't working. So he figures why change things in the second game, outside of the puzzling if semi-understandable decision to start Simeon Varlamov instead of Jose Theodore?"
...this series is a prime example of how important coaching is in the playoffs. While Tortorella seems to be pulling all the right strings (i.e. replacing Girardi & Staal for Redden & Rozy as top D pair in Game 1), Boudreau has not been able to make the in-game or between game adjustments needed. Plus he's created friction by starting a goaltending controversy.
...Boudreau's failure to make in-game adjustments remind me of the same problems Tom Renney seemed to have before getting fired.
