The New York Rangers (7-2-0) lost to the San Jose Sharks (5-3-1) by the score of 7-3, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
...that folks was ugly. Terrible defensive effort as Sharks players were wide open in front of the net to bang home rebounds at will.
...having said that, I'm not going to jump off the bandwagon b/c if Lundqvist is in there I feel this is a different game. A huge turning point was Valiquette letting in a soft goal to cut the Rangers lead to 2-1 and it was all downhill from there.
...the Brashear signing is looking worse and worse every game. He was a -3 in just 6:05 of playing time. And when it looked like the game was slipping away for the Rangers his so called momentum changing ability was no where to be found.
...something to keep an eye on was the appearance of the undisciplined Avery. Surprised that Torts kept him on the ice after two bad penalties. Although he did have two assists and somehow came out of the game with a +2.
...penalties finally caught up with the Rangers tonight. Although if Betts was still here the he would have single-handedly killed off every one of them. Sorry, couldn't resist.
...everytime I think things can't get better for Del Zotto they do. The latest being on the day he's told he needs to look for a permanent residence because he official made the team he scores his fourth goal of the season. Unreal.
...if Torts is going to give Lundqvist the game off to rest, please give him the entire game. No reason to put him in there in the 3rd.
...anybody else feel good for Ortmeyer when he scored?
...off the next two days then the Devils invade MSG.

This was a bad game no doubt, but its no reason to burn the ship. I always tell myself at the beging of every year that there will be losses, and there will be bad games, this was one of them. Sucks that it happened so early in the season, but at least we put away 7 wins ahead of it. That being said, the team looked putrid thru the last 50 minutes of the game, however, their power play still looks like a force and looks to be built completely on player instinct led by Del Zotto and Kotalik. I knew something was fishy about putting Vally in against San Jose, and it bit us...
From the highlights, I'm kind of glad I missed seeing this one live. My co-workers all thought I was crazy, yelling expletives while looking at the Sharks' goals climb on the Gamecast.
Haha Michael, I'm the same way, but fortunately I'm usually watching from my apartment. Let's be glad TV's don't have ears.
