Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants was able to catch-up with former Rangers and current Canadiens Scott Gomez and Paul Mara before tonight's game...
On playing in hockey-crazed Montreal, Gomez said...
“It’s different being in a hockey atmosphere as far as being in a Canadian city,” Gomez said. “It took a little bit to get adjusted to but it’s been great.”
Gomez also explained that his poor performance last year was due to injury.
...excuses, excuses.
On being motivated to allevate his game playing in Canada, Mara noted...
“You want to play better for them,” Mara said of Montreal fans. “It’s similar to New York, the fans are very knowledgeable.”
...i really thought Mara came into his own his last two years with the Rangers and I would have liked to have him back this year. But, unfortunately, there really wasn't a spot for him on the roster, unless he was willing to accept a lot less money for a seventh defense spot. Which obviously he wasn't.
