Update, 11:05 a.m.:
Beyond the Blueshirts, via Twitter, reports the Wolf Pack were at their AHL veteran limit so they needed to move Rissmiller in order to make room for the newly signed Mathieu Dandenault.
Original Post:
According to the AHL transaction report the Rangers have reassigned Patrick Rissmiller to the Detroit Red Wings AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.
...not sure what it means when you reassign a player to another team. Don't know if the Red Wings take on his entire salary ($1 million) or if the Rangers get anything (draft pick?) in return. If anyone knows, leave an explanation in the comments section.
...either way not a big deal as Rissmiller had no future with the Rangers franchise.

i'm pretty sure it's just a loan... he remains (unfortunately) rangers property, although not a hit on the salary cap, even though they pay his salary. it is more than likely the organization getting his pouting ass out of the way so a prospect (like the recently recalled ryan hillier) can get developmental ice time. i for one really resented the voros and rismiller signings, and hope that voros is next to receive this treatment.
Thanks for the explanation Amos.
Yeah, the rangers are not actually bound to the pack, but will almost always send their people there. All this does is put Rissmiler out of sight and out of mind. Unfortunatly for us, this also means Voros can't be cut. What I don't get is why he isn't sent away also? I think its because Torts may actually want Voros around instead of a prospect
