The New York Rangers (8-5-1) lost to the Minnesota Wild (4-9-0) by the score of 3-2, last night. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
...this is starting to resemble last year. I know the Rangers were down some key players last night, but there is enough talent on this team to be able defeat a 3-9 team.
...for the second game in a row the Rangers allowed a team to get their first regulation win.
...the Rangers have now scored just three goals in the last two games. Two from Hartford call-ups and one from Staal.
...was Callahan out last night also?
...Brashear is officially done. This guy needs to be waived immediately.
...nice, tough game out of Byers. I guess when you show up 15 minutes before the game there's not a lot of time to think about things.
...despite the goal, Staal has been a little shaky lately.
...on a positive note Anisimov was a +2 last night.
...off day today to hopefully get healthy, then Bruins in town tomorrow afternoon.

I think the problem is teams just know our offensive game now and they are stopping us. They are taking away the neutral zone not allowing us to freely skate the puck in. When we were on the 7 game winning 90% of our even strength goals were on the rush. The Rangers have good shifts cycling in the offensive zone but they can never find the open man in front. Like Torts says until we find another way because what was working is not anymore we will not win. Combine this with bad defense from our experienced players and fowards not playing to their ability like Cally, Dubi, Higgins, and Drury. Oh and if I see Staal lose the puck one more time trying to skate through the neutral zone that costs us a goal I think I might start fresh and find a new team. I think its time to do a trade with a foward thats not living up to his contract with stall or girardi for a top rated defenseman.
I just want to add it must be embarrassing for players with the nice contracts they have when AHL guys come up to play and score.
Rangers fall flat ...AGAIN. They have not had balanced scoring for years and even though our defense has contributed offensively it's evident that without our top sniper in the line up other teams do not need to worry about matching up or defending against us. They forecheck against our inexperienced defense and we break down. Once again Henrik can only do so much and if we can't score more than 1 or 2 goals a game it's going to be a long season.
Torts wants our defense to join the rush but we fail to cover back and get caught on odd man rushes the other way all game. It leads to too many chances against.
Where is the leadership? Give Voros and Brashear the boot.
