Semenov Cries, Rangers Move On

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes recounts the strange events of the Alexei Semenov contract issue and posts this quote from Glen Sather...

“He agreed, his agent agreed, but his wife didn’t,” Sather said. “He couldn’t talk his family into it. In all my years of dealing with players, I’ve never had that happen before. He was crying.”

...wow. After hearing the guy was crying because he couldn't be a member of the Rangers, makes me really wish something could have been worked out.

...in the poker game of life, women are the rake, they are the f'in rake. Name that movie.

Zipay adds that the Rangers are now hunting for his replacement. And may regret missing out on former Senator Christoph Schubert, whom Atlanta just claimed on waivers.

Finally, here's John Tortorella on the vacant second alternate captain spot...

"Ryan Callahan has shown the capability for that role and I want to see if someone else steps up to claim that other one. Maybe, maybe not. It depends how it all unfolds."

WTF is wrong with Semenov's wife? She's got a problem living in NYC? Too bizarre......

Oh Zipay. There is no way the Rangers would have been ahead of Atlanta on the waiver order, there would have been no way for them to claim Schubert even if Semenov was never here!
