Rangers Play Slipping

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants reports on John Tortorella acknowledging the Rangers game has slipped of late...

“We talked about it quite a bit the past two games here,” Tortorella said. “I think we do. We had a pretty pointed tape today as far as some things that need to be corrected. Every team goes through this, you go through these concentration problems, momentum swings. We’re trying to keep as much momentum on our side. I think the team understands that. We just want to play the right way.”

On San Jose being the perfect team for the Rangers to play tomorrow...

“I think it refocuses the players and that certainly isn’t disrespectful to Toronto,” Rangers coach John Tortorella said of his team’s winless opponent in two of their last three games. “But it is what it is. We can sit here and dodge it but it is what it is. We need to be focused because that’s a pretty good hockey club coming in tomorrow night.”

...i think its only human nature to play down to your opponent. So I agree with Torts that the Rangers will be a much better team come 7 p.m. tomorrow night. At least they'd better be or they'll get run out of MSG the way the Giants got run out of New Orleans today.

Gross also reports that Tortorella kept Sean Avery on Chris Drury’s second line while moving struggling left wing Christopher Higgins to the third line.

No word on a starting goalie for tomorrow night, but Gross says to expect Lundqvist.

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes has more from practice here.
