Prospal: I Always Played My Best Hockey Under Torts

In Dan Rosen's piece at NHL.com on Vinny Prospal, the new Rangers winger had this to say about playing under the direction of John Tortorella...

"When I lost my job in Tampa I just didn't know what is going to happen," Prospal said. "I felt I'm a good enough player to be playing in the NHL, but look now and there are still guys out there that don't have a job. I'm very fortunate that when I got bought out there was a spot open here and it's working. I understand it may not work for everybody, but I always played my best hockey under Torts."

Tortorella talks about his relationship with Prospal...

"The thing that draws me to him is I just think he competes and I don't think he gets enough credit for how hard he competes," Tortorella said. "He does some stupid things and he's a pain in the butt sometimes with other things that go on, but what draws me to him is he always competes. That's a good thing for a coach and a player. That's a good thing to draw one another together."

...Prospal my be the most under-rated signing for the Rangers since what feels like forever. And pencil-in the Kotalik signing right below it.

I do agree with Prospal, although I wouldn't consider Kotalik being that underrated considering he did get 3m a year.
