What Ifs

Rick Carpiniello at the Rangers Report wonders if the Rangers would be better off not making many of the moves from this summer...

"If you could go back and do the Gomez deal and the Gaborik signing all over again, then undo the other stuff … would you rather, right now, have Zherdev and Antropov and Orr and Sjostrom and Korpikoski on your forward lines than, say, Higgins and Boyle and Lisin and Kotalik and Brashear?"

...it's obviously easy to say yes to that right now. But remember last year's team didn't exactly light it up offensively either.

...the only decision I would like to see undone was signing Brashear over Orr. That was a colossal mistake.

Umm, do the Gomez deal, but not have Higgins? What if... what if Rick Carpiniello actually thought about what he was writing before posting it. Yeah, right.

Salsa, I was going to raise the same point but then I remembered thatthe Rangers had to sign Higgins once they acquired him so they could have decided against that to sign Antropov, Zherdev, etc.

What if we kept Zherdev? Imagine if he just did not perform as well last year with his 60 points but even better because he is playing with Gaborik. The would have worked great with eachother because they are both great passers not just scores. It drives me crazy we didnt just give him what he wanted. I would be upset also if Kotalik was making just as much as me. The point is he had tremendous talent and I wish Torts could have brought it all out of him.
