Dubinsky Skates; Brashear Hurts; Heikkinen Paired w/ Gilroy

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants reports that Brandon Dubinsky was on the ice for the first time since breaking his hand on Nov. 7.

John Tortorella on Dubinsky...

“For a while, we didn’t see the healing,” Tortorella said. “There’s healing in there now. I don’t think we’re at risk to do any damage if he hits it. Of course, we don’t want him falling. Also, we need to get him on the ice. He’s been off for a while. So when we started seeing the healing, we’re going to slowly get him on just to get his skating legs.”

Torts on Donald Brashear's injury and timetable...

“We’re leaving it up to him,” Tortorella said. “He’s just not able to move the way he needs to, especially the part of the business he’s in. We don’t want to put him in a spot where he’s not able to do things. It’s not just the fighting and the tugging and the pulling that goes on with that. He just doesn’t feel confident he can play. A veteran player, we’re going to listen to him if he doesn’t think he can do it.”

Gross also reports that Ilkka Heikkinen was paired with Matt Gilroy on defense today.

...great to hear Dubinsky is making the next step in his recovery. The Rangers could use some extra offense sooner rather than later.

The whole Brashear thing makes me hurt all over. So this old goon takes $1.3 Mil or whatever so he can come in and say he's too old and worn out to play his game anymore!!?? How does that work and where do I sign up? I'm sore everyday, too. I still go to work! They'd stop paying me if I didn't.

Meanwhile, Orr got the GW on Tuesday!! His only goal so far, but at least he's playing!! Argh!

I know, the Brashear thing is sickening.

Id love to hear Sather try and explain why he got rid of Orr, Betts and Sjostrom, in favor of Brashear, Boyle and whoever.

I can skate better than Brashear

and he cant even fight anymore.

theres NO WAY they even scouted him before signing him, because they wouldve seen how sad he is.

They scouted him, all right. In the four games NYR played against WSH last year, he played in three of them and managed a whopping ONE shot on goal, +1 and 5 PIM!! Not in the same game, of course. Talk about a guy who CREATES TIME AND SPACE for the offense.

I say, he creates OFFENSE, alright. I'm pretty f-ing offended by the whole thing.
