Callahan Praised By Coaches

Dave Lozo at NHL.com has a feature on Ryan Callahan's moxie resonating with Ranger & Team USA coaches...

"There isn't a role Callahan isn't willing to play. He sees time on the power play and penalty kill, and he has shown the willingness and desire to throw his 5-foot-11, 188-pound body around. His versatility and physical nature could be his tickets to suiting up for Team USA at 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver."

On being named alternate Captain, John Tortorella noted...

"I think that Ryan Callahan has shown the capabilities for that role and that he deserves that role," Tortorella said. "It's in the way he handles himself on the ice, the way he prepares, the way he practices, the way he conducts himself. It's about being a pro."

While Team USA Olympic Coach Ron Wilson added...

"He's the type of player that you need in your lineup because he can play in every single situation," Wilson said. "He's good defensively, he's a great skater, he plays with a lot of intensity, a lot of pride. From a coach's point of view, I'd love to have him on my team."

...while Callahan has struggled offensively of late, you can never question his determination and hard work which makes him a fan favorite.

I definitely want Cally on Team USA over any other American Ranger. Don't think Drury deserves an automatic bid to Vancouver given his paltry offensive output and increasing skill slippage. Dubinsky would have to have a monster 20 games in the next 6 wks to warrant consideration.
