Anthony "Fooch" Fucilli at MSG.com reports that New Jersey State officials are sending a letter to the National Hockey League and commissioner, Gary Bettman, requesting that the 2011 Winter Classic be played at the new Giants Stadium.Officials are asking that the annual NHL event match up the host New Jersey Devils with the New York Rangers.
...consider me officially excited.
Yankee Stadium has long been considered the top Metro area site for a Winter Classic but scheduling conflicts have gotten in the way.

Two problems I see
1) Rangers and Devils only appeases to one market.
2) Consider who will be the home team.
