(1) Canadiens vs. (6) Flyers - Briere scored the winner on a power play with 3:38 left and Martin Biron stopped 36 shots to lift Philadelphia to a 4-2 victory Wednesday night and a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. They play Game 5 tonight.
WESTERN CONFERENCE
(1) Red Wings vs. (6) Avalanche - On Thursday night, Johan Franzen scored three goals in the Detroit Red Wings' series-clinching 8-2 rout of the Colorado Avalanche, giving him nine in the four-game sweep.
(2) Sharks vs. (5) Stars - Joe Pavelski scored 65 seconds into the third overtime game of this second-round series, and the Sharks evaded elimination for the second straight time last night, improbably rallying from a late two-goal deficit to beat the Dallas Stars 3-2. Game 6 is tomorrow night.
