Leafs Interested in Redden!!!!!

Tim Wharnsby at the Globe & Mail reports that it is believed that the Maple Leafs have been zeroing in on Wade Redden.

Wharnsby adds that the Leafs have plenty of cap space to accomodate the acquisition of Redden.

...i'm starting to shake I'm so excited. If Sather can pull this off he'll be just as big of a genius as he was an idiot for signing Redden in the first place. Maybe more.

...obviously Leafs GM Brian Burke didn't watch much Ranger hockey last year. Not sure who the Rangers would have to take back (Wharnsby says the Leafs could be interested in moving Tomas Kaberle or Pavel Kubina), but I don't really care.

I think the Rangers would have to package a good young player with Redden, that would be why Burke would take on Redden. I would take Kaberle in half a heartbeat, the guy is a true PP QB: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=30372 and makes only a little over $4 million.

This is possible, i've been saying for a while a Redden trade was not impossible. Remember that before he signed with New York; San Jose and Calgary were both very interested but the rangers ended up landing him. Plus, after a dozen years in 2 separate high scrutiny markets Redden will think twice about slacking off the way he said he did.

If he can find his former game, then Burke will have himself a d-man to build around

I'm pumped to hear this...Bye Bye pissy Redden...I hope they get this done asap, so I don't have to worry about his old worn down looking face even in my Rangers yearbook...

Hate to burst the bubble but Darren Dreger said on NHL Live that he talked with TOR and they said the rumor was false, but we will see. Good news is that we are confirmed to be in the hun t for Heatley.

I don't know about any of you, but i think Sather should offer Redden and in return, give everyone at Madison Square Garden, at all 41 games, a bud light so we can celebrate together. Doesn't matter what he gets from Toronto - eliminating 5 years at 6m per is so much more valuable than anyone they get back. Therefore, I think celebrating is in order.

That's true, I actually don't care at all what we get in return for Redden, I don't even care if it's a conditional draft pick, just getting rid of him is good enough

We probably wouldn't get anything good in return from Toronto...it would be like Redden and a top prospect for Kubina or something
