Three Rangers on All Star Ballot

Update, 3:40 p.m.:
Steve Zipay at Blue Notes has the rest of the ballot.

Original Post:

Henrik Lundqvist, Marc Staal, Marian Gaborik are the #NYR players on the 100-candiate NHL All-Star ballot.less than a minute ago via HootSuite

...is it me or should Dubinsky, Boyle and Callahan be on that list ahead of all three of those players?

I completely agree. How did they decide who was on the ballot? was it decided from last year?

Hank definitely deserves to be there.

Hank does but Staal has not been one of the stars of this team and Gabby has barely played this year. I think the guys that have stood out the most this year should be on the ballot.

Lundqvist IS an all-star, and deserves to be recognized as such.

Staal has been mediocre, and Gaborik simply hasn't played enough. (Boogaard has more goals that him - should he be an all-star too?)

Boyle has stepped up big-time this year for the Rangers, but is he, in the grand scheme of the NHL, an all star? Meh, probably not.

Dubinsky and Callahan however, are right up there at the top of the scoring lists for the NHL, and definitely should have been included this year.

Actually, speaking of Staal being mediocre... If any Ranger defenseman was going to be named an all-star right now, wouldn't you have to go with Girardi over Staal?

Definitely Girardi over Staalzsival. Girardi has played with a nice confidence this season. Staal's trying to be too much. He should play a stay-at-home game and hit some bodies instead of poke-checking. Disappointed in the team's supposed #1 D-man.

All-star balloting is based on prior year performances and reputation. No one is stopping you from "writing" in Dubinsky or Callahan or Boogaard.

ballot was decided before season.

does anybody think dubinsky or boyle is an all star. if so i have a couple of bridges to sell you. a guy needs more tham a couple of empty netters to prove his all star status

and those criticising staal really are not watching the games

They came up with those names before the season even started. Do you think they waited 15 games into the season and then started picking guys for the all-star ballot? Come on, guys.

Considering that two backups are currently on the ballot (Fleury/Niemi) I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Obviously the person (hopefully this wasn't a collaborative effort) hasn't watched a game this season.

LI Joe - Your hatred for Dubi and love-fest for Staal will never end.... will it?

In case you missed it, Dubinsky has 10 goals so far this season. Not too shabby. What exactly does he have to do to meet your expectations?

puck central - please difffentiate his regular goals from empty net goals - he has 2 of those.

i don't worship at a guys feet for 1 good month in a career. actually 2 good months he was good 2 yrs ago in oct too. i guess we can call him mr october.

Ok - so he has 8 goals then. Gimme a break man. You hate him for some stupid reason. You've had a grudge for years. Sucks for you that Dubi is emerging as the leader that I said he was a few years ago. Will you cry if he gets 30 goals this year?

I'm not like you, I don't wish for our players to underperform. I hope that Staal proves me wrong, but so far this season he's been nothing more than average. He's supposed to be the best dman on the team, he's been that in maybe 1 or 2 games max this season.

puck central - as usual i disagree with you on both of those guys. i'm very high on staal and dubinsky, despite his lucky start,is far from a leader. and its people like you with the overhype that turned me quickly against # 17. he gets interviewed on tv i change the channel
