“I’d say revenge is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of this game,” said defenseman Michael Del Zotto. “The guys that are here from last year know how heartbreaking it was, the way our season finished there in Philly. It feels just like yesterday that it happened even though it was quite a few months ago. That memory doesn’t go away.”
...i love that the Rangers are using last year's loss as motivation. I expect a very physical game. There are certain games, as a fan, you get more amped up than normal for and tonight is one of them.
And if you weren't certain where the Rangers are mentally for this game check out this quote from Brandon Dubinsky in today's New York Post...
"I know there are questions lingering from what happened last year with Gabby, but we have a much clearer picture now of what's expected of us in those kinds of situations. We will not allow our teammates to be taken advantage of.
...if this quote doesn't get you fired up for tonight's game, I'm not sure what will.

Gotta like the change in attitude, team toughness is always a harder enemy to overcome.
The game tonight will be bananas, however, I have a feeling the referees will try and "participate" in the game — by that I mean break up scrums way early, calling borderline coincidental penalties — all just to put a strangle on the flow of the game. I hope I'm wrong!
Glad to hear Dubinsky bring up the Gabby incident.
The biggest positive to the veteran injuries is Cally and Duby stepping up to be the on and off ice leaders. Both have been vocal to press. Both have excelled on the ice. Now that they know they can play at this higher level, they need to sustain it when Gabby and Dru (and Prospal) return.
"The biggest positive to the veteran injuries is Cally and Duby stepping up to be the on and off ice leaders." Absolutely. I honestly don't miss Drury or care if he comes back — recent play and quotes from these two IS leadership.
Forget Drury's "intangibles" and "strong/silent" demeanor. A captain should be tangible through actions and words.
Dubinsky for Captain! I think he has shown this year that he would be perfect in that role. I haven't missed Drury one bit. If it weren't for all the injury updates I'd have forgotten completely about him.
Time for Boogaard to earn his stripes! I expect Cally to be flying into defenders at every opportunity & our middleweights, Avery & Prust to be the difference in this game, LETS GO RANGERS!!!
How fast does Prust get into a fight? Should be Boogard but we know it won't.
Like the old days-it should be fun
so jack you mean a captain should lead a team in scoring like drury did with 25 his 1st yr. or maybe 22 goals while used in many defensive situations like his 2nd yr here.
so off 1 bad yr (a yr team usa still thought enough of him to put him on best vs best tourny) and 2 mos of injuries you don't want him back.
i trust torts and most of his teammates feel differently than jack from the internet.
coleen -p dubisnky is well down the list of potential captains. including the 3 injured vets her's also behind cally (obviously) as well as staal and girardi. i'd put him behind prust too.
