Just wanted to update you guys on the status of the new blog over at Bloguin. They just finished the shell and now it's up to me to learn how to update the thing.
I think they did a great job keeping the look virtually the same except for a few more ads. Hey I got to make money somehow.
I plan on doing a lot of homework this weekend in an attempt to get the new blog rolling sometime next week.
Let me know what you think.

Looks pretty good, though Im not a fan of the grey-ish backgrounds on the left and right sides. makes it seem claustrophobic.
sorry but the old look is better. much easier on the eyes, less ads, only select colors, etc. everything is like too big.
what happened to the Anonymous poster's comment on how when he went to the site it said something about the site being dangerous and might be able to access private info on your network?
you just delete that comment or what?
Andrew, didn't know what that was thought it was spam.
Did you get that message also?
I like the addition of the skated-on ice texture in the far background.
The ads/tweets/etc. bar on the right, however, seems ginormous. I know you have to have ads now, which is fine, but it seems like that bar on the right takes up half the page. Keeping it the same size as the one on the left would help with that, and also get some symmetry back, as it looks off-balance with the right bar being larger than the left.
Like Chris, I'd vote for white (or at least much lighter gray) backgrounds on the size and under the banner. A) it makes the banner flow less with the rest of the site, and B) it doesn't look as clean and simple as when everything was white.
i got a similar message but it only came up the first time. i don't think that guy was spamming...would've helped if it wasn't anonymous.
i love your blog thats why i hate to see any changes. i'm sure i'll get used to it though.
COMPLETELY agree with what RandomRanger said. also the fact that those ads are bright green doesn't help lol.
Andrew, thanks for the headsup on that. I'm going to e-mail Bloguin and ask them what that's all about b/c if there's something fishy going on, I'm out of there.
Took down the link just in case.
FWIW, I didn't get any sort of error/dangerous message, even the first time I visited the link.
Me neither. Checking it out tho.
Andrew, Bloguin is telling me they've never heard of this before. Where did you see the message?
Who cares about the ads, as long as the content stays as good as it is has been the site will continue to rock.
when i clicked on the link, the site didn't come up because the "warning message" popped up instead. I have a Mac and this comes up when the Mac finds it necessary i guess. this is what it says:
Warning: Visiting This Site May Harm Your Computer
The website you are visiting appears to contain malware. Malware is malicious software that may harm your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Your computer can be infected just by browsing a site with malware, without any further action on your part.
Thanks Andrew. I use a mac also and didn't get that message. I'm going to forward it to Bloguin and I'll let you know.
Andrew, what browser are you using?
A lot of the security issues are likely due to varying browsers and/or security settings varying form person to person.
FWIW, I didnt see any errors and Im on my work computer which tends to be a bit over-protected
Chris, yeah assuming it's nothing, but need to check before I go live.
Looks fine. it's the content that brings us here day after day, so I wouldn't worry too much about the layout
Andrew, Bloguin just did a quick diagnostic for Malware using Google's tool and it didn't show anything. So not sure what the issue was.
Another update from Bloguin:
I don't have a Mac, but Ben does and isn't getting that message. I'm also not seeing any warnings in Google Chrome or Firefox.
We have had issues in the past with 2-3 of our sites being flagged for malware, usually by Chrome, never by Mac. However, it was never actually our site causing the problem. Ultimately, what would cause this is that one of our bloggers would link to or grab an images a bad site, and once you have that on your page, you can get flagged. For example, one time our Capitals blogger pulled an image of Alex Ovechkin from some Russian site, which apparently hosted malware. That image got his site flagged.
In your case, there's nothing on your site other than the sidebar items. I would be really surprised if it were one of them that was triggering this though, as you have the exact same things on your sidebars over at blogspot.
i use Safari. i'm sure everything is fine if you checked and everything. it only happened that first time so idk.
anyway, keep up the good work...
hopefully we can at least beat the Devils to make up for yesterday.
nice themes.
