Brooks also notes, but can't confirm, that Naslund notified GM Glen Sather of his decision at his exit interview on Thursday.
...Naslund definitely wore down as the season progressed and probably realized his best days are behind him. He was a solid signing, who brought veteran leadership to the team, but I'm not crying about his retirement because the Rangers can really use the cap space.

you rangers fans are the biggest bunch of excuse makers i have ever seen. all you do is talk garbage, and then get your butts handed to you repeatedly. you are the joke of the league.
where is the excuse in anything he just said? unless you are speaking in generalities, which if you are...go away... playoffs every year since the lockout. Can you team say the same...NOPE
PERFECT! Things could not have worked out better. I was actually going to suggest that it would be beneficial for the team to put him on waivers and send him down, in order to gain that $4 million in cap space. Now the Rangers will have no problem signing both Callahan and Dubinsky, and should look into locking Marc Staal up long term before dipping into the free agency market.
uhh arent we stuck with his contract despite him retiring?
maybe redden will retire too
Andrew - We are not stuck with the contract.
I liked the signing of him over last summer, but I don't mind seeing him go.
I kinda expected this as Nazzy will not fit into Torts system anymore.
Genius. Let us get Kovy and be awesome!!!
